DRS & PALO Creative Grant


DRS and PALO Creative are giving away $30,000 in technology services and solutions plus a website makeover to one local nonprofit.
You can vote as many times as you like. The voting deadline is August 18, 2013.
The top five nonprofits receiving the most amount of votes will move on to the next round where their technology needs will be evaluated by a panel of community leaders and DRS. One winner will be picked through a combination of panel votes and the community’s vote.

PROTECT Women's Self Defense

We will be offering the P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Women's Self Defense course on Saturday August 17th. The class will be free to any female ages 16 and older who reside or work in the Village. The class will be held from 10am to 2 pm at the Lordstown Fire Department and will be taught by Sgt. Michele Mercer. To register for the class contact Chief Milhoan or if you have any questions please contact Sgt. Mercer at 330-824-2545.

Swim Classes for Autistic children

From the Tribune-CLASSES OFFERED: Swimming classes for autistic children will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the YMCA on High Street. Sessions are one hour. There is no charge for current members. If not a member, membership is not required, but sessions will be monthly for a fee and this includes both parent and child. An adult must be with the child for the sessions. Financial assistance for the classes may be available to those families who meet certain financial criteria. Registration and financial assistance is done through the YMCA.

Benefit Concert

 Holes in the Road reunion concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren that will serve as a fundraiser for Gregg's Gardens, which is working to establish a garden district along Atlantic Street in Warren, planting wildflower gardens where abandoned houses once stood. 
 There is no admission fee, but donations will be collected at the door and refreshments will be sold in the parish hall at the church, 2627 Atlantic St. N.E. 
''That place holds 300,'' Blank said. ''If everyone drops $5 in the kitty and buys a couple sodas and a bag of potato chips, we could raise a couple thousand easily.''
